Job Description
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work under supervision of Lead Mechanic to maintain a fleet of heavy snow removal trucks
- Execute preventative maintenance and repair operations.
- Maintain and provide a report of all repairs and maintenance actions including parts and labor time on each piece of equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair complex hydraulic and electrical systems on snow removal equipment
- Perform mechanical work using conventional hand and power tools in a safe and productive manner.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems and work to proactively maintain fleet and equipment.
- Run equipment and service truck for truck / equipment repairs outside of shop and facility needs.
- General shop upkeep.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Ideal candidate would possess the following -
- The ideal candidate for this position will have 5+ years’ experience in heavy truck along with Snowplow equipment.
- The ideal candidate will also be very proficient in using computer diagnostics software to pinpoint engine, hydraulic, electrical, or electronic issues.
- Experience with equipment including heavy construction equipment, snowplows, sanders, class 8 tandem axle dump trucks, medium duty dump trucks, light duty pick-ups, tractors, etc.
- They will have strong experience with engine repairs on International, Cummins, Cat, etc.
- Must be able to carry out workload in cold weather for long hours at times.
- Must be able to order parts as needed
- Must be driven to teach and mentor less experienced mechanics
- Must have full set of tools required for Heavy Truck maintenance
- Must work well in a fast-paced environment
- Must be available to work nights and weekends as require
- Must be able to lift 50lb consistently
- Must be able to weld and operate cutting torch/plasma cutter proficiently
- Must be able to properly diagnose issues and operate diagnostic software
- Must be willing to work outside and in inclement weather when needed
- Must be willing to go on service calls when needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of heavy equipment, diesel, hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting/repair, etc. required
- Knowledge of snow removal equipment and safe operating procedures preferred
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong conflict resolution and critical thinking skills.
- Efficient multi-tasking ability.
- Basic computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office applications and internal computer programs.
- Possess a Class B unrestricted CDL and ability to meet company guidelines for driver eligibility or be willing to obtain within 90 days
- Experience with Navistar engines preferred
- Experience with Snowplow/spreader systems preferred

Pay range: $28.00 - $38.00
