JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for Foreman training, retention, and the direction of Foreman activities on job sites. Provides effective leadership and ensures quality service for every client. Plan, organize, direct, or coordinate activities of workers, such as planting and maintaining trees, shrubs, flowers, and lawns. This position indirectly supervises crews, which includes assigning and directing daily tasks but does not have direct managerial responsibility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education

  • High School Diploma, GED, or 4 years related field or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements.

Experience

  • At least 6 years of commercial landscape experience required

License or Certification

  • Valid driver license issued by the state where employed is required
  • Certified Landscape Technician preferred
  • Pesticide License issued by the state where employed or ability to obtain within one year

Specialized Skills

  • Supervisory Experience
  • Ability to safely operate and train staff on the use of commercial landscape equipment and tools
  • Demonstrate proper pruning techniques while taking into account the plant material and season
  • Understand fertilization basics for both turf and plants
  • Working knowledge of herbicide applications and relevant practices
  • Excellent knowledge of safety regulations
  • Have a general understanding of annuals installation and maintenance
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them under tight deadlines
  • Ability to motivate and lead subordinates
  • Ability to read and understand maps for navigation and job planning
  • Ability to communicate in English / Spanish
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees and management
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish strongly preferred but not required
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out tasks
  • Deal with standardized situations with occasional variables
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Enforce operating procedures and work standards that will ensure adequate performance and personnel safety.
  • Effective planning process that includes Scope, Time, Equipment, People
    and Sequence to ensure optimum execution for each project assigned.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure conformance to specifications, standards, and contract requirements.
  • Direct activities of workers who perform duties such as landscape maintenance, cultivating lawns, or pruning trees and shrubs.
  • Schedule work for crews depending on work priorities, crew and equipment availability, and weather conditions.
  • Maintain vegetation through activities such as mulching, fertilizing, watering, mowing, and pruning.
  • Monitor project activities to ensure that instructions are followed, deadlines are met, and schedules are maintained.
  • Train and coach employees regarding consistent maintenance techniques.
  • Provide workers with assistance in performing duties as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Inventory supplies of tools, equipment, and materials to ensure that sufficient supplies are available, and items are in usable and safe working condition.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate work activities with those of other departments or units.
  • Complete weekly payroll duties.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Communicate with Area and Branch manager to maintain budget and standard goals.
  • Maintain uniform and PPE guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned

Pay range: $26.00 - $36.00
